Kolašin area is rich in historical and cultural monuments from ancient times. Most important in this heritage is Morača Monastery, located at the right bank of Morača river, built in 1252 by Stevan, son of Vukan and grandson of Stefan Nemanja, founder of Serb medieval royal Nemanjic dinasty.
Not so far from the Monastery lays the Mrtvica River canyon, 9 km long and 1100 m deep, wild and attractive, yet easily accesible by footpaths carved into canyon's rocks. |
